Stepping out solo, Colin Farrell was seen dropping by a friend’s house in Los Angeles today (July 20) for a visit.
The Irish-born actor had a book in hand but made sure to keep the cover hidden from the shutterbug.

Could it have something to do with news that Colin is said to be in the running to play Richard Burton in the upcoming film adaption of Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century, by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger?

According to the Daily News, Colin is facing off with fellow actors Russell Crowe and Clive Owen.

As for the coveted role of Elizabeth Taylor? Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones are set to go head-to-head. (For her part, Angelina says that “no one can play Elizabeth Taylor better than Elizabeth Taylor.”)

To help capture the romance between Taylor and Burton, writers of the book were allowed to read love letters written by the iconic actress to her husband.

The movie, if it gets the green light, would primarily focus on the famous couple’s troubled relationship. They famously wed and divorced two separate times.
